About this course
The ROAR Response to Staff Wellbeing and Supervision in Education is all about looking at how we can support our staff members who work within the education setting. Supervision is a term that is commonly associated with a clinical or health and social care setting.
However, the wellbeing of teachers and education staff needs to be a priority now more than ever, with research showing that 70% of staff within education stated that their job had adversely affected their mental health within the last 12 months, and 67% of staff considered leaving the profession altogether. (NASUWT)
This course will equip delegates with an introduction to supervision in education. It will give delegates the the knowledge and reflective tools around supervision to enable them to feel more confident in taking the learning back to their school, so that they begin to look at how they can embed a supervision model in their setting. The RAISE Team recognise that setting supervision up within schools doesn’t happen overnight, however this course will generate thinking around the steps we can take to achieving this within school.
We allow for two places per school to come on to this course. We recommend for the headteacher or members of SLT to attend this course to make the culture shift needed within the school to offer in-house supervision, along with another staff member that also has a passion for staff wellbeing, and a desire to make the steps to make supervision happen. Each delegate will be provided with a ROAR resource and reflection manual to embed supervision within the school.
Delegates will cover:
- Introduction to supervision within education
- Enhanced knowledge of reflective practice
- The factors that make a good supervision
- The importance of the supervisory relationship
- Delivering group supervision and reflective practice
- A whole school approach to supervision
